Page Builder

Use the Page Builder feature to create and edit content pages on your WebAlliance website.

You must be a SuperAdmin or an Admin with the Content Area role to access this feature.

The Page Builder Overview page

The overview page displays a list of created webpages. Details:

  1. New Page - Add a new content page to your website.
  2. Click here to view only pages that are "Published" on your site, only "Unpublished" pages, or "Both".
  3. All Pages - Select a subdirectory to only view that type of page.
  4. Page Information - you will see the page name, page status ("P" if the page is published on the site or "U" if the page is unpublished), who the page was last updated by, and the date and time the page was last updated. You can click the "Sort By" button to sort the entries accordingly.
  5. Page Specific Options - Clicking the options icon on a specific page listing results in specific options for editing the meta info of a page, copying a page, changing its URL, editing the page, viewing the page, deleting the page, unpublishing the page and adding the page to your site's navigation.

Creating a New Page

Click the "Add Content Page" button to display this pop-up.

Don't use "Forms" as your page directory for a new page. "Forms" pages are automatically created when you create a new form in the Form Builder but that directory shouldn't be used for standard content pages.

1) Enter your page URL information. As you type, the URL will be updated in the "Page link" box at the top of the page.

NOTE: The values for Page Directory + Page Name cannot exceed a combined 140 characters.

Generally, WebAlliance pages follow the format of "www.website.com/DIRECTORY/PAGE-NAME". However, the "Make Default" option on this box gives you a way to create a URL path to the page with only one element. As an example, a page on www.website.com with a directory of "contact" and the "Make Default" box selected could be visited by going to "www.website.com/contact" with no page name specified.

Be aware that when creating a page in this way, a page name of "home" will populate. This will go away once the page has been published.

2) If you'd like to add the page you're creating to your site's navigation, check the "Add to top nav" box and select the navigation parent from the drop-down menu.

NOTE: Only navigation parents starting with "--" can be selected. Those starting with"----" will not be allowed on the site.

3) Meta Page Properties gives you a place to set your page's title, headline, template, and meta description. For information about those, visit our Meta Information entry in WA Manuals.

Content Pages can use the "Target Users" concept, giving you the ability to allow access to content pages only to certain types of web users.

4) Click "Add Page" to create the page. If you click "Add Page" while "Continue to Edit Content" is checked, the page will be created and you will be forwarded to the Content Builder. If you choose not to "Continue to Edit Content", you can find the page in Page Builder using the "Show Unpublished" button.

When you create a new page, that page is automatically set to "unpublished". To publish the new page, click "Save & Publish".

If you would like all Content pages to be searchable on your site, you can enable this via the Searchable Pages Configurator in the Search tab of your Site Settings.

Edit Meta Pop-Up menu

Clicking "Edit Meta" from the Page Builder overview screen will give the following options per page:

  1. Change Page Title.
  2. Change Page Headline.
  3. Edit Page Meta Desc.
  4. Change between "Left Nav" and "Full Screen Width" page templates.
  5. Choose whether to target the page to specific users.

All of these options can also be changed from the Content Builder by clicking "Show Meta Information" in the menu bar.

Change URL Pop-Up menu

By clicking "Change URL" on the Page Builder overview page, you can change the directory and/or name of a specific page. Here again, you can type in a new directory name, or select an existing name from the drop-down menu.

If this page is linked in your Site Navigation, you will be prompted on how you would like to handle the link:

  • Do Nothing - This changes the Page's URL but does nothing to the Site Navigation link.
  • Remove Links - This will change the Page's URL and then remove the link from the Site Navigation.
  • Update Links - This will update both the Page's URL and the Site Navigation link.
  • Replace - This will update the Page's URL then replace the Site Navigation link with specified link.

Add to Navigation Pop-Up menu

By adding a page to the navigation tree from the Page Builder overview, you can save a couple of steps against adding it via the Site Navigation menu:

  1. Name the link. This will display in the site's navigation menu. This value automatically fills in with the page title if adding to navigation this way.
  2. Choose the link URL from the drop-down menu. Again, this will automatically populate when adding to navigation from the Page Builder overview page.
  3. Select the parent navigation option. Choose which "top-navigation" menu you'd like this page to display under.
  4. Description doesn't display on the site, but it's useful for internal record keeping.
  5. Choose whether to display the page on the navigation tree, or leave it unshown to group the page with the other items under the parent, but not display it in the tree.
