Punchout Shopping Options
The Punchouts Shopping module is a tool that allows users to browse the website without being logged in and put together lists of items they would like to purchase. That list of items and prices can then be submitted back to the user's internal purchasing system rather than being purchased through the website.
If you are interested in purchasing the Punchouts additional module, please contact Aldrich Web Solutions.
Determine the pricing the punchout users will see by assigning the punchout a Customer Access Code. The Customer Access Code links to a particular Customer ID which is then used to determine the pricing for the punchout user.
It's easy to set up and use. All you need to do is configure the punchout and provide the user with their punchout credentials. They can start browsing the website through the punchout immediately.
WebAlliance natively supports several different punchout systems:
Quotes on Punchout
It is also possible to view quotes that exist in the ERP for the associated Customer Code of the punchout user during a punchout session. By using any link to the 'My Account' page on your site, punchout users will be able to view these quotes and add items to their cart.
As a note, only Web-Enabled items are able to be added to the cart for punchout purposes.
Please note that third-party cookies must be enabled in the browser for Punchouts to function properly. In the future, all browsers will have third-party cookies disabled by default; because of this, third-party cookies will need to be manually enabled.
Be aware that very often, the term 'punchout' is conflated with many technologies, including cXML technology.
The WebAlliance Punchout Shopping module only addresses allowing the customer to 'punch out' to your site from their system, view your products with their specific pricing, build a cart, and submit that cart to their internal business system. It does not allow for them submitting an order for purchase.
Using the cXML protocol, many other non-shopping events are possible such as PO Submission, etc.
PO Submission is not a website function, but is an ERP function. Neither Prophet21 nor TrulinX natively support PO Submission via cXML.
PO Submission is not part part of or included with the WebAlliance punchout module. While it is possible for Aldrich to create a customization that can allow for PO Submission via cXML, the time needed to make such customization is dependent upon the business partner, their systems, and the specific needs...
For submission of orders from punchout partners, we recommend EDI. EDI is a standard that your ERP supports and would be supported by your ERP provided. You may need to contact your ERP provided for additional information on their EDI implementation
