SKU Detail

Like the SKU listing, SKU Detail is an E-Commerce page that reflects information gathered from your ERP system and the Attribute Manager or PIM-Enterprise.

Data from the SKU Detail page is used to create a JSON-LD object for Google Structured Data. Use the Google Structured Data Testing Tool to see the JSON-LD object created by WebAlliance. This testing tool is provided as a general help resource by Google and is NOT associated with Aldrich Web Solutions.

The WebAlliance Ratings and Reviews system can provide item rating information for the JSON-LD object. If an item doesn't have any reviews, the Structured Data Testing Tool might report a "missing data" warning but that isn't a problem.

SKU Detail Layout

SKU Detail refers to an item listing that appears on its own page. Each SKU listed on the website will have its own SKU Detail page. It contains several elements:

  1. This image is attached to the item using one of three possible techniques. See our article E-Commerce Item Image Management for details. NOTE: When an image is associated with an item, the image's 'alt tag' value will be the Item ID. The image's "title" will be the value from your ERP's Part Description field.
  2. This is called the Page Headline. A custom field/PIM-Enterprise field called "Web Headline" allows you to define this value. If that field is blank, the item will display a template-created headline. More information about that template is found in "Template Merge Fields".
  3. This is known as a "breadcrumb". It lists the category path taken to arrive at this item. If an item is not in a category, this section of the page will not be visible.
  4. The item information seen here comes directly from fields in your ERP system and the PIM-Enterprise. You can choose from several fields here.
  5. Inventory display can be configured in several ways. The inventory display shown on the SKU or SKU Detail listing is a cached value, updated every 4 hours. You can choose to make this listing a link, which displays real-time inventory in a pop-up box.
  6. The "Add to Cart" section of the SKU listing contains a few elements itself. The universal rule is that if an item displays a price, it can be added to the cart. If no price is available, the "Add to Cart" button will be subdued, and a line of text will be displayed. See "Notes on Item Pricing" for more information.
  7. As in the SKU listing, a user can click "Add to Favorites" on a SKU Detail page to add that item to their list of "Favorites", found at /Products/Favorites. This list is different for every web user, but Favorites categories can be shared between all users attached to a given Customer ID.
  8. Like in the SKU listing, a user can click the arrows on the right side of the "Favorite Item" button to add the item to a Wish List or to an Order Template.  They can add the item to an existing list or create a new one.
  9. Item Specifications are shown on Item Detail pages for items that have Specifications defined through Attribute Manager or the PIM-Enterprise.
  10. WebAlliance can display an item's UPC code (where applicable). All 12 digits of the UPC code will display including the check digit.

Note about the breadcrumb box - this is shown on the SKU Detail page of every item that exists in a category, and on every Category page. The data inside the box is automatically generated based on your WebAlliance category layout, and the information shown in this box is not editable.

SKU Detail Title Tag

The Page Title works just like the Page Headline on your website's item pages. Use the Custom or PIM-Enterprise field called "Web Title" to set the title tag for the page. If that's empty, the WebAlliance system builds the page's title tag from a Site Setting called "Item Detail Page Title Template". Like the Page Headline template, the Page Title Template uses "Template Merge Fields".

Same goes for the page's Meta Description. Use the custom field "Web Meta Desc" to set it, and configure the Site Setting called "Item Detail Meta Desc Template" to set the website's fallback option.

SKU Detail Export

WebAlliance contains an option that, when enabled, allows your users to generate and download PDF exports of your SKU Detail listings, based on a template you can edit. This option is disabled by default.

For more information, visit our SKU Detail Export manual entry.

If you are interested in adding embedded content to your SKU Detail page, check out this article for more information.

SKU Detail Show Price Toggle

While logged in, you have the ability to toggle pricing on or off on the SKU Detail pages by using the "Show Pricing" toggle at the top right of the SKU Detail page. This toggle can be used to show products without the concern of the incorrect price being displayed to the observer.

This toggle will take effect on ALL SKU Detail pages on the site.
