Content Search Setting - Pages

This feature offers a simple way to configure which page types you want to be searchable by your site's users. Utilizing this feature will allow you to determine whether Blog Posts, Brand Supplier Pages, Category Info Pages, Content Pages, or any desired combination of these pages will be returned in a search result.

You must be a SuperAdmin or an Admin with the Settings Area role to edit the Content Search Settings.

How does this feature affect my site?

When a user utilizes the search bar tool on your site, this feature will determine what type of pages will return for the user to select. This tool can make the search experience for a user more powerful, and also gives you the power to show or omit certain types of pages from the search results.

As an example, if you had 'Blog Posts' enabled in the Content Search Settings, and the user searched for a term that happened to be in a blog post, the name of the post would be listed in the Search Preview and would appear at the bottom of the search results page.

 To adjust this setting:

  1.   Go to "Site Manager" in the Admin panel and navigate to "Settings".
  2.  In the left "Settings" panel, select the "Search" tab.
  3.  While in the "Search" settings, select the "Pages" tab at the top.
  4.  Press the "Configure" button to access the "Searchable Pages" filter.

What does each filter allow the user to see on my site?

Blog Posts - Will return search results containing possible Blog Post matches.  As a note, blog tags are also searched to determine if the post is a good match for the searched term.

Brand Supplier Pages - Will return search results containing possible Brand\Supplier pages.

Category Info Pages - Will return Category Info Pages, in the case a user wanted to learn more about a specific category of products your site offers.

Content Pages - Will return created Content Pages for the user if they were looking for a specific page they couldn't track down through normal navigation.
