Targeted Content(DEPRECATED)
Use the Targeted Content tool to create home page content to display to certain customers, users, groups of users, and types of users.
Choose Targeted Content from Admin > Content > Targeted Content
The interface
- Add new content.
- When you enable or disable a piece of content, you'll need to click "Update".
- Set the description of the content. This doesn't display to the user, but helps you keep track of your data in the admin tool.
- Select the user(s) who can see this content. See below for a detailed explanation.
- Choose "Image" content or "Text" content. See below for explanations of each.
Image Content

- When you select "Image" content, you can use the "Destination Url" field to set a link on the image itself. Use good linking practices.
- If your website uses responsive mobile-friendly design, be sure to upload a standard image as well as a mobile image, so that the targeted content looks good on any device.
Remember to use good web-optimized images for your targeted content.
Text Content

When you select "Text" content, you can use a standard rich text editor to create and format the text. Check out the "Templates" drop-down menu for some pre-formatted options. Text content can also include "Tokens" which display user-specific values for placeholders like "First Name", "Last Name", and "Company Name".
Note about tokens - if you plan to show content to anonymous users, do not include tokens in the content. Anonymous users don't have user profiles, so they'll see strange looking data instead of the placeholders.
Target Users

The "Targeted Content" tool allows you to create multiple pieces of content, and users can see as many pieces of that content as apply to their account. The content will show up in order according to the WebAlliance system preference. You can see a definition of the different types of users you can target and the order of preference in the Can you explain Targeted Users? article.
