Parts Breakdown

The Parts breakdown is a feature of WebAlliance that allows users to view a numbered breakdown, labeled with an associated list of parts that are available for purchase on the site.

You can access the admin page of the Parts Breakdown by going to: www.yourdomain.com/admin2/partsbreakdown/index

You can navigate to your Parts Breakdown admin by going to your site admin and selecting the Content Tab then selecting "Parts Breakdown" under the Special Content heading.

The Parts Breakdown widget can be viewed as a standalone page as well as on a content page, just like an item list. The Parts Breakdown Snippet can be found under WebAlliance Snippets in the Snippet Dropdown of the page builder.

Parts Breakdown Admin

On the Parts Breakdown Admin Page, you can:

1. View Page - This will take you to the standalone Parts Breakdown Page for the selected Product.

2. Edit - this will allow you to edit an existing Parts Breakdown.

3. Delete - this will allow you to delete an existing Parts Breakdown.

Deleting a Parts Breakdown from the Parts Breakdown Admin page will remove all associated Parts Breakdown content blocks from the site and display an error in their place.

Creating a New Parts Breakdown

Start by selecting "Create New Parts Breakdown" in the top left corner of the Parts Breakdown Admin page.

Once you have reached the screen above, fill in the following fields appropriately.

1. Breakdown Name - The name of the breakdown, used for searching if content page search is enabled.

2. URL - The URL that will lead to the Parts Breakdown you are creating.

3. Description - A searchable description of the breakdown, there is no need to include part numbers here, they are already included as searchable.

4. Parts breakdown Image - The numbered breakdown (should already be labeled upon upload)

5. Product Parts - This is where you'll add the related part numbers and associate them with the labels on your breakdown. You can choose to add one at a time, or you can select " Add Multiple" and you can add more than one at once.

6. Parent Parts - Adding a parent part means that the breakdown will appear on the SKU and Item Detail of your site on any part numbers marked as a parent. (example image below)

7. Related Parts breakdown - here you can link other related Parts breakdowns.

Select "Save" when complete.

In this example, item RD21808 is the parent part of the "Drill" breakdown so that breakdown is displayed here.

When adding multiple part numbers, the Parts breakdown will fill in the breakdown IDs starting with the last number from the parts list and adding them in the order they are pasted in.

Using Parts Breakdown

All Parts Breakdowns will display the breakdown image with an item list to the right of it.

To use the Parts Breakdown, you will locate the part you are looking for on the breakdown (identifying it by its Breakdown ID), and find the Breakdown ID in the list of parts. From the Parts Breakdown page, you can view the Part Number, Part Name, and Price. You will have the ability to navigate to the SKU Detail page of any part using the part number link, you can also choose to add parts directly to your cart.

Breakdown Searching

For the purpose of searching, Breakdowns are handled as though they are content pages. This means that having Content Pages enabled in your Search Preview Configuration will allow them to appear in the search preview of your site.

If your site has content searching enabled, the breakdown pages can also be found by searching for any applicable item number,  a term in the breakdown description, or the title of the breakdown itself.
