Manual Tax Rates

 

This option now allows you to maintain tax rates for manually entered addresses. This is an alternative to third party tax services such as Avalara or TaxJar.  Allows the Site Admin to enter Tax Rates through the Admin portal of the site.  Either manually or by importing an excel file. 

To locate the Manual Tax Rates page you login to your admin account. From there select Site Manager>Manual Tax Rates.

Adding a New Record

Click "Add new record" to input all information to create a record.

An 'Edit' pop-up will appear, with all parameters to complete. After filling out all needed information select the "Update" button to save the information.

  • Location Type:  Must be either State or Zip.
  • Location: Either the two-digit state code or a 5 digit Zip Code.
  • Tax Rate: The amount of tax to be charged (This value is entered as a decimal. So, 20% would be entered as 0.2)
  • Include Freight?: Should freight be included when determining what amount to charge tax for.

Adding Manual Tax Rates via Excel

Users also have the option to import files that contain manual tax information. To do this, simply click on the "Select files" button and choose the file you wish to import and then click "Import from Excel" when you have selected the file.

Excel File Format

Below you will find an example of the file format that is needed to import this information into the Manual Tax Rates tool. 

Location Type:  Must be entered as either 'State' or 'Zip' and must start with a capital letter ('state' or 'zip' will not be recognized). 

Location:  Must be either a two-digit state code (capitalized) or a 5 digit Zip Code 

Tax Rate:  Must be entered as the decimal equivalent of the percentage (6% = 0.06)

Include Freight?:  Must be entered as a 'TRUE' or 'FALSE' value. 

Importing tax rates via an Excel file will overwrite any existing tax rates. You can export your current tax information by using the 'Export to Excel' button at the top of the page.
