Define Success
Common goals for managing a successful website.
If you haven’t done it yet, the best place to start is by sitting down and putting on paper what would be considered “success” for your site.
Some common ideas are:
- $xx in sales
- xx signups per week
- xx visits to the My Account area (relieving stress on CSRs)
- xx online invoices viewed
- xx requests for quotes
When you look at all the factors of what is considered "success", you will typically find that you cannot base a return on investment on just one of the factors.
But, when you have a list like this, it is a straightforward thing to start assigning dollar values to each task… then you have what you need to determine what type of return on investment you should expect.
Once you have your ideas for website success, look at your business processes.
Examine how you can encourage and lead your customer toward your goals for your site.
Examine your sales staff and whether or not they are willing and properly trained to further your website goals.
