Abandoned Cart Wizard

The Abandoned Cart email job generates and sends emails to your site's users indicating that they have an open shopping cart that contains items. If you prefer, you can set these emails up to be sent to someone other than each user, as a data-gathering tool.

Abandoned Cart Wizard - Step 1

Abandoned Cart Wizard - Step 2

This step lets you set up and edit the template that builds each Abandoned Cart notification email. First of all, answer the 4 questions at the top:

  1. Shopping Cart Link -  must be a full link to the shopping cart, including your domain. It will look something like https://www.yourDomain.com/checkout/shopcart
  2. Website Name - a friendly name for your website, rather than the domain URL. For example, this would be Facebook rather than www.facebook.com.
  3. Footer Name - this is the name that will appear at the bottom of the Abandoned Cart email.
  4. Footer Phone - this would be a contact phone number for the Footer Name.

Of course, the template can be fully edited, but by default the Footer Name and Footer Phone end up as something like:

Best Wishes,

{Footer Name}

{Footer Phone}

where the values you enter above take the place of the place holder values.

When you're done, click "Activate Notification" to enable the automation job.

You can always edit the email template through the Email Templates tool.  The name of this email template is Automation Job - Unpurchased Cart Message.

  5. A notification will not be sent before the cart is this old, in minutes. In the above example, a cart must be at least 1 minute old before a notification is sent.
  6. The minimum amount of time that passes between each email being sent.
  7. Set the additional recipients of the automated email
  8. Set the additional recipients of the automated email; Other recipients won't be able to see that someone else has been sent a copy of the email using this method.
  9. Set the Email address you'd like to appear as the sender.
  10. Set the subject line of the email that will be delivered.
  11. Set the *override* delivery email address. If this field is left blank, each email will be sent to the owner of the open shopping cart. If an address is entered here, that address will receive *all* of the Abandoned Cart notifications.
  12. Set the maximum total notifications to be sent for each cart. In the above example, a user would be reminded about an open cart only 1 single time.

Abandoned Cart Example Email

If the "Override TO" box is left blank your website's users would receive a notification like this one based on the items left in an unpurchased cart. Use the template to change the wording, colors, etc.
