Product Restrictions - Territory Sales
You must be a SuperAdmin or an Admin with the Settings Area role to create, edit, or delete Product Restrictions.
A "territory sales" scenario might look like this: There are 35 items in your system that are available only to a certain customer (Vandelay Industries - Customer Code 12345). These 35 items are not available to any other customer.
First, tag the relevant items in your ERP system
For details, click here.
Tag the 35 relevant items in your ERP system. The tag in this scenario will be "12345only".
Remember that the values you apply to an item in your ERP system will be available on the website after the following 4-hour data update.
Next, create the User Group
For information about User Groups, click here.
For this example, we'll create a User Group named "Vandelay Industries", containing only one Customer Code - 12345.
If more than one Customer Code is needed, simply enter one per line.
Note that there is a limit of 99 Customer Codes and usernames in a single User Group. If you need to enter more than 99, create a second group (Vandelay Industries2).
Third, create your Product Restriction
Go to Admin2>Site Manager>Product Restrictions and click "Add New Restriction". Then build a Territory Sales restriction.
- Set the Restriction Type to "Limit Items to Specific Customers (territory sales)".
- Give the restriction a Name and Description that you (as a site Admin) will recognize. The user will not see this value.
- Select the User Group (Customer Group) that you set up in the previous step.
- Select the Item Group based on the tag that you set up in the first step.
Save the restriction. The restriction will take effect immediately. The users represented by the selected User Group will be allowed to view the items in the selected Item Groups. However, all users not included in the selected User Group will be disallowed from viewing the items in the selected Item Groups.
In summary, the restriction created here says: Allow the users in the group "Vandelay Industries" to view the items tagged "12345only", and do not allow any users *not* in the group "Vandelay Industries" to see the items tagged "12345only".
