Can you Explain how 404 Pages Work?
A 404 result appears if a user enters a URL that points to your website domain, but the page the URL is pointing to doesn't currently exist. For instance, this might happen if you remove a content page that a user has bookmarked.
When a user tries to access a URL on the website that doesn't exist, a 404 Error (Page Not Found) is generated, and they will see the above message. The text of this message is generated in WebAlliance and cannot be changed. The same message will be displayed by any page that returns a 404 error.
If the page that the user is trying to access has been moved to another URL, you can utilize the 301 Redirects tool to send them to the correct page.
WebAlliance 404 pages will always have a page title of "404 Error". That page title can then be used in Google Analytics to track 404 errors on your website.
