Can you explain Wholesale Vs. Retail Customers?
There are several important differences between wholesale customers and retail customers in your ERP and the WebAlliance system. Please note this is a highlight of differences and may not represent every difference between wholesale and retail customers.
Wholesale Customers Vs. Retail Customers - What are the differences?
Wholesale Customers: People with payment terms and an account in your ERP.
Retail Customers: People with no terms agreements and no specific account in your ERP.
Customer ID Generation
Wholesale Customers: Each customer is assigned to their specific ERP Customer ID via the admin panel.
Retail Customers: A "retail group" ERP Customer ID is created that represents all retail orders, not each customer individually. This code is used to represent both orders and pricing for the retail customer. This code is automatically assigned to users who do not have a specific customer code.
Order Imports
Wholesale Customers: Orders are imported into the specific individual customer account in your ERP.
Retail Customers: Orders are imported into the group "retail" ERP account. The ship-to address of every order is set to the address supplied by the customer at checkout.
Ship To Options
Wholesale Customers: Customers can select from ERP Ship Tos or (optionally) enter a custom Ship To for their order.
Retail Customers: Customers must supply a Ship To for each order.
Payment Options
Wholesale Customers: Customers can pay for their purchase using applicable terms or (optionally) credit cards.
Retail Customers: Customers must supply a credit card for payment.
Price Assignment
Wholesale Customers: Prices are based on the specific Customer ID including any custom pricing, price pages, etc.
Retail Customers: Prices for all retail customers are based on the group Customer ID.
Price Management
Wholesale Customers: Prices are managed via your ERP by normal pricing logic.
Retail Customers: Prices are managed via your ERP by normal pricing logic.
Invoices
Wholesale Customers: Customers can view invoices on the website. Invoices show information for the entire ERP Customer ID.
Retail Customers: Customers cannot view invoices as they are on a shared account. Invoices on this account would represent multiple customers, not just a single customer and are therefore not available for viewing.
Web Order History
Wholesale Customers: Customers can view their web order history. This history is unique for each logged in web user, not unique to the customer code. This allows customers to look at their recent online orders.
Retail Customers: Customers can view their web order history. This history is unique for each logged in web user, not unique to the customer code. This allows customers to look at their recent online orders.
