Searching for Products
NOTE: Not all search options are universal. This entry will go through the search functions of one example website.
Note: For the purposes of system efficiency, WebAlliance will only return up to 10,000 items in a search result.
Type Your Search Query into the Search Box, Then Click on the "Search" Button

Enable and configure "Search Preview" to show your users the "Top Suggested..." options shown above.
Navigating Search Results
After performing your search, you will be directed to a results page, formatted much like a category page.
- When searching, a "Filter Your Search" section may appear to help with narrowing your search criteria down. If your site uses Attribute Manager or the PIM-Enterprise, the filters you assign will appear here in the Category view. The filters have checkboxes next to them to allow you to select and apply multiple filters at one time.
- As a reminder, WebAlliance displays the keywords of the current search. The user can even save their current search by clicking the "Save" icon.
- The number of search results will be presented toward the top of the page.
- Enable the "Search Sort" tool on your WebAlliance website to allow users to sort their results. "Best Match" is the WebAlliance default sort.
- WebAlliance can display an item's UPC code (where applicable). All 12 digits of the UPC code will display including the check digit.
Keep in mind that search results are based on multiple pieces of information attached to each product. These are deep searches that are performed by not only inquiring within the product name, description and product code, but also through different pieces of item "meta" data, like item popularity, stock status, and more. For more information about search result rankings see Search Engine Concepts.
As a website Admin user, you can edit which item data fields are searched, and how important each piece of information is. Visit the Search Preferences tool to edit, or view the searchable fields.
