Checkout Attachments

The Checkout Attachments feature, if enabled, allows your users to upload files during checkout to send alongside their cart. These can be images, documents, or zipped files. It also provides a dashboard where you may view and download any attachments that were sent. This can be particularly useful for tax exempt forms. To prevent abuse, anonymous and retail users will not be able to upload attachments with their orders.

Enabling Checkout Attachments

To enable this feature, simply navigate to the site settings of your admin panel by going to the Site Manager tab and selecting Site Settings.

From here select Shopping > Checkout from the left-hand navigation and scroll to the bottom of these settings. The two settings that affect this functionality are 'Enable Checkout Attachments' and 'File Expiration Duration.'

File Expiration Duration will determine how long customer-uploaded files will remain available for you to download. This setting does not change the expiration date of already uploaded files if it is changed.

Checkout Attachments contribute to your site's file quota if enabled. The File Expiration Duration is in place to help prevent going over the allotted file quota. Your file quota is made up of files\images that you have uploaded through content pages, documents you have attached to items, checkout attachments, etc.  You can see the other types of files that apply to your quota by accessing File Manager from the Content menu in the Admin panel.  Please take this into consideration when deciding if you should change how long you hold on to customer-uploaded files.

Checkout Attachments In the Cart

Note that up to 5 files can be uploaded per cart and each file can be up to 5mb at max. The accepted file types are:
.doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .pdf, .zip, .txt., .dwg, .dxf, .gif, .png, .jpg, .ppt, .pptx, .rtf

Once checkout attachments are enabled users will see an option to upload any files they'd like to share on the Additional Info portion of checkout.

  1. Users can click in the grey section or click the "Select File(s)" button to bring up a windows dialog box that will allow them to add files.
  2. They can also drag files directly from File Explorer into the grey box on the site to upload these files.

Checkout Attachments In the Admin

Checkout attachments are sent as part of the cart receipt email but are also visible through a dashboard in your site admin panel.  The Checkout Attachments admin tool can be found in the Orders menu of the site Admin panel.

There are several tools available from the Checkout Attachments admin page.

  1. View the details of your documents quota.
  2. Update the file expiration date here as necessary (this is not retroactive).
  3. Turn off Checkout Attachments.
  4. Download or delete attachments.
