Shipping Methods
WebAlliance offers native shipping methods from UPS, FedEx, USPS, and a variety of LTL carriers. Collect shipping options are available as well.
Will Call/Customer Pickup
Users who select Will Call or Customer Pickup at checkout will need to select their pickup location for the order. You can set the available pickup locations in the Admin panel at Inventory/Pickup Locations.
The user's selection will determine the Source Location, Sales Location, and Ship Location of the order, regardless of other factors, like the user's WebAlliance profile.
Per-user, you can choose whether to display "Local" shipping options, which include WillCall/Customer Pickup and Delivery.
Will Call/Customer Pickup orders generate Sales Tax in a unique way. See Will Call Sales Tax for more information.
Collect Shipping
When a user selects a "Collect" shipping method, they'll be prompted to enter their carrier and account information.
Each WebAlliance shipping method exists on its own. For example, UPS Ground and UPS Ground Collect are two different options.
Showing Shipping Rates
There are a couple of methods you can use to show shipping rates to your customers:
Displaying Real Shipping Estimates
You can display shipping estimates from UPS or FedEx, by integrating your UPS or FedEx account with your WebAlliance site. Contact Aldrich Web Solutions for details.
The displayed shipping rates are estimated based on Residential shipping by default, and you can set each User profile with their own specific default setting.
Tiered Shipping
If you'd prefer, you can display manually-determined Tiered Shipping rates. An example would be "All orders over $100 ship for $5."
Check out our Tiered Shipping article for more detail.
These shipping tiers will apply to all customers, for all orders, for a given shipping method.
Number of Shipping Methods
To keep your checkout screens from getting too cluttered, your shipping methods will display a little differently during the customer's checkout depending on how many methods you have available. If you have fewer than eight shipping methods, they will appear as a simple list with radio buttons. If you have eight or more shipping methods they will appear in a drop-down list.
Free Shipping
Free Shipping can be made available to your users, based on parameters that you decide. See our article about Free Shipping Settings and contact Aldrich Web Solutions with any questions.
Saturday Shipping
WebAlliance does allow for some UPS Saturday Shipping options. If you are interested in having these shipping methods added to your website, please contact Aldrich Web Solutions for more details.
