How Does the WebAlliance Shipping Estimate API Work?

The WebAlliance system includes an API to return shipping estimates from UPS, FedEx, UPS Freight, and Conway Freight.

The API is based on source-to-destination Zip Codes, and the total weight of the order.

Other APIs exist, but these are the parameters that the WebAlliance API supports inside the system. Any further needs would require a website customization

For UPS and FedEx rate estimates, the WebAlliance shipping estimate API includes a basic boxing algorithm based on box weight. The "maximum box weight" value is editable, with the highest available option being 70 lbs.

WebAlliance Default Weight Setting

WebAlliance offers a site setting called "Default Weight". This setting is used as a fall-back option for items where a valid "Item Weight" doesn't exist. It is not a replacement for accurate weight values in your ERP system. For example, the same "Default Weight" value would be applied for an un-weighted bolt as would be applied for an un-weighted air compressor and for an un-weighted tool chest.

If your items don't have proper weights in the ERP system, the recommended Shipping Estimate option is Tiered Shipping.

WebAlliance shows the standard published rate by default for UPS and FedEx estimates. To use Negotiated (or Account) rates instead, contact Aldrich Web Solutions.
