Credit Card Abuse Countermeasures

These settings allow you to control how many times a user can fail an attempt to use a credit card within a certain time frame before the site will redirect them to the Contact Us page.

This setting is used to help prevent malicious entities from attempting to use fraudulent or stolen credit card information many times over a short window. The default values are meant to allow users some margin for error while also preventing many failed requests from happening at once.

The Credit Card Abuse setting can be found by going to the Admin Panel and selecting Site Manager > Settings and then Shopping > Checkout from the left-hand side.

The first box "Credit Card Abuse Threshold" is the number of times a user can attempt to use a card within the allotted time frame before they are blocked off.

The second box "Credit Card Abuse Minutes" sets the time frame that WebAlliance will look at for how many credit card transactions a user has tried and failed.

The two settings work in conjunction to limit how often a user can try and fail to checkout with a credit card before the site will stop allowing them to try.

For example, with the default values of 10 and 10, a user may attempt to use a credit card up to 10 times in 10 minutes. If the user fails all 10 attempts within 10 minutes they will be redirected to your sites Contact Us page each time they attempt to checkout.

By default, an email will be sent to the email address listed under "System Notification Receiver"  in email settings whenever the Credit Card Abuse settings are triggered. The "Disable Notify On Credit Card Abuse" setting can be toggled on if you would prefer not to have this email sent.
