Ratings and Reviews
With the "Ratings and Reviews" feature, users will have the option to leave a review on any item that is available to them on the website. Anonymous or guest users will not be allowed to leave reviews. When a user leaves a review, a notification with the review details will be sent to the email address defined in your settings (Item Rating Notification Receiver, or if that's empty, the Default Order Receiver). Once a site Admin approves a review, it will appear on the item listing for other users to see. This feature can also be set to auto-approve reviews as they come in.
NOTE: The Ratings and Reviews module is optional. If you'd prefer not to allow it on your website, contact Aldrich Web Solutions.
Seeing the reviews for an item
If this feature is turned on, the item detail page of all of the items on the website will display review links.
- If there are no approved reviews of the item on the site, there will be a link that says "Be the first to review this item".
- If there are approved reviews for the item, you will see a rating that represents an average of the approved reviews, and a count of the number of reviews that have been left for the item. Clicking this link will show you a list of the reviews.
Adding a Review
Click either the "Be the first to review this item" link or the "1 Customer Review" link on the item detail page to view the "Reviews" screen. There, you can see other existing reviews, and add your own review to an item.
- Click the "Write a Review" button to add your own review of the item.
- Click the "Cancel" button if you started a review, but don't want to complete it.
- Click the stars to rate the item.
- Enter the text of your review.
- Click the "Submit" button to send the review in to be either approved by a site Admin or auto-approved by the system depending on the website's settings.
Administration
Site Admins will be able to approve and manage user-submitted reviews from the Item Reviews interface in your website's Admin panel.
