MaxMind Credit Card Fraud Protection
MaxMind minFraud is a third-party credit card fraud protection service. There is no fee to integrate the MaxMind service with WebAlliance, but MaxMind does charge a fee per transaction. You can view more details about the MaxMind minFraud service on their website.
NOTE: Aldrich Web Solutions is not affiliated with MaxMind. We don't provide support for their services, but we do support the MaxMind integration with WebAlliance.
Requirements
There are several requirements for the integration to work properly:
- You must have a MaxMind minFraud account. You will need your account information to enable WebAlliance integration.
- You must configure your MaxMind account with the criteria needed to generate risk scores for transactions.
- You must have "Credit Card" configured as a payment option on your site.
- You must be using Element (Vantiv) as your credit card processor.
MaxMind minFraud will integrate with Authorize.Net as a payment processor as well. Authorize.Net has their own integrated fraud protection system, though, making it unnecessary to enable this feature.
Enabling MaxMind minFraud
Once you have obtained your MaxMind account information, you can find the settings to enable the integration in our MaxMind Settings article. You will need your MaxMind User ID and License Key to enable the integration.
Once enabled, MaxMind will begin screening credit card transactions on the website and logging transaction data in the Fraud Check Log.
Transaction Data
The following is a list of some of the data that WebAlliance sends to MaxMind to help generate a risk score. The risk score is then used to determine if a credit card transaction is accepted or rejected (based on the MaxMind Fraud Score you enter in the WebAlliance MaxMind settings):
- IP address
- User's email
- Line item information
- Cart total
- Last 4 digits of the card number
- First 6 digits of the card number
- Card type
- Billing address and phone number
- Shipping address and phone number
