Configuring Segment
The Segment integration with WebAlliance is deprecated and is no longer being supported. WebHooks is a more open-ended method of sending website data to third-party services. You can read more about WebHooks in the Automation Configuration article.
Your WebAlliance website can integrate with the Segment third-party data service if you purchase the Automation Configuration optional module. The Segment service will receive a wide variety of data from the website and can then send that data to other third-party services of your choosing. You will need to have an account with Segment, which will provide you with an API Write Key that is needed to configure the integration on the website.
Aldrich Web Solutions can assist you in configuring Segment for the first time. After that, you can change the "Write Key" and adjust the Segment-related events using these instructions. Aldrich Web Solutions provides these manuals as a general help resource. For the most reliable and up-to-date information about this topic, visit Segment's support documentation.
Getting Your API Write Key

- From your Segment account, select your WebAlliance source (you will need to have set WebAlliance up as a source in Segment).
- Go to the "Settings" tab.
- Select "Keys".
- You will find your "Write Key" under Source Keys.
Send that "Write Key" to Aldrich Web Solutions to initialize your website's Segment integration.
Configuring Segment
Next, update your Segment settings in the WebAlliance Automation Configuration Admin tool.

Once you have your Write Key, you can complete the configuration on the website:
- Enter the key in the API Write Key field Under API Details.
- Update your website's list of Item Detail events.
- Make sure to click the "Save" button.
