Configuring Google Analytics for Site Search Data

If you have a Google Analytics account connected to your WebAlliance site, you only have to make a minor adjustment to your Analytics settings to see site search data.

Aldrich Web Solutions provides these manuals as a general help resource. For the most reliable and up-to-date information about this topic, visit Google's support documentation.

From your Google Analytics, select the "View Settings" option from the top right-hand corner of the page.

At the bottom of this page, you will find a setting called Site Search Tracking. Toggle the switch to the ON position.

Under "Query parameter", enter "keyword".

If you don't want the query parameter (keyword) to appear in the report data, click the "Strip the query parameters out of URL" checkbox. This is optional, but recommended.

You can find the new search data in many places, including Behavior > Site Search > Search Terms.

Once you've made this change in the settings, Google can still take 12 to 24 hours to start showing the new search data.
