Setting up reCAPTCHA
This is a quick guide on how to set up Google reCAPTCHA to be used for various pages on your site. To use reCAPTCHA, you will need an account with Google Services to retrieve the necessary reCAPTCHA Keys to place in your WebAlliance Site Settings.
Note that if you are allowing anonymous shopping we HIGHLY suggest you configure reCAPTCHA V3 for better protection against spam.
Navigate to Google's reCAPTCHA page at www.google.com/recaptcha/ and select the "Admin Console" button.
A prompt will appear asking you to log in. Once you are logged in you will be brought to the following page.
From here you will need to enter:
- Label - Just used to identify what site the reCAPTCHA is for, the site name is fine as a label.
- reCAPTCHA type - Select reCAPTCHA v2 or v3 depending on your preference.
Note: If you are going to use reCAPTCHA v3 you will also need to enable the "Enable reCAPTCHA V3" WebAlliance site setting.
- If You selected v2, you will need to select the type of request you'd like to use from the follow-up drop down options.
- Domains - This will be the site that you are configuring the reCAPTCHA for (e.g. www.examplesite.com).
- Owners - By default, the account used to create the reCAPTCHA will be the owner. You can assign multiple owners by entering their email address here. This is to enable another account to access the reCAPTCHA settings.
- Be sure to click the "Submit" at the bottom of the page.
You should be redirected to the Secret Key / Site Key Google page you just configured. Leave this page open as you will need to enter both keys into your site's settings, and enable v3 reCAPTCHA if applicable.

Next, navigate to Site Manager > Settings in the site Admin panel. Select Credentials > Google from the categories in the left navigation panel. See screenshot below:

- Secret Key - Enter your new Secret Key you've previously generated in your Google Account.
- Site Key - Enter your new Site Key you've previously generated in your Google Account.
- If you're using v3 reCAPTCHA, enable this setting toggle to use v3 reCAPTCHA on your site.
- "Enable reCAPTCHA" - You can set this to "Disabled", "For Anonymous", or "For All" customers.
Make sure to hit "Save" at the bottom of the page before exiting the settings or the changes will not take effect.
