Query the Database for the Import Source

Let PIM Enterprise know how to connect to your data:
- Specify the SQL Server that you are connecting to.
- Specify the credentials used to connect to the SQL Server. You have the ability to use either the appropriate credentials or integrated authentication.
- Specify the name of the Database that contains the item data on the SQL Server.
- Here you want to paste in the SQL Query that will be used to fetch the data that you wish to import. Contact Aldrich Web Solutions if you need help creating the SQL Query.
- Once you have all the information filled out, you need to execute the query to the database so that PIM can pull the data to use for the import.
Configure the Import Source

- If you are linking images or documents to items in your import file, enter the paths to where you have the referenced files stored. Select if you want the imported images/documents to add to the existing images/documents for the items, or replace them.
- Select the column in the imported data that represents the Part Number of the item.
- Select the column in the imported data that represents the name of the category the items are to be imported into.
- Select the column in the imported data that represents the Featured Indicator Field. You can see more about what how Featured Items work at the bottom of the Edit Items & Properties article.
Mapping Item Data

If you have saved mappings, you can select them. If not, click "Next" to manually map the item data for your import.
- To manually map the fields, select the "Source" field from your import file and the "Destination" field in PIM Enterprise that you want to map it to.
- You can also have the system attempt to map the fields for you. Simply click the "AutoMap" button. If the system finds matching names between your data and the PIM data, it will automatically map those fields.
Completing the Import

After the mappings screen, you will have the option to save the mappings to be used again. This can make future imports a much quicker process.
Click "Finish" on the final screen to complete your import.
