Smart Edit can be used with several of the "Item Detail" fields.  This includes the Web Description, Web Short Description, Features, Web Title, and Web Headline.  Smart Edit is indicated by a small wizard hat icon next to the name of the detail.

Smart Edit allows you to create an item detail template for all selected items using attributes and category information to help fill in the blanks.

1. This section is used to create the item detail template. 
2. This section is where all the attributes and category information lives. From here, you can drag and drop the fields into the item detail section.

In the case above, we are using Smart Edit to create a Web Title that would fill in "synthetic rubber" for {[Material]} and "1/2" " for {[Inner Dia]} for this particular item.  Each item you selected will have the appropriate data filled out based on the "Material" and "Inner Dia" assigned to them.

Once you have the template created, click next in the bottom right corner.

The next step to the Smart Edit feature is to determine whether or not you would like to replace the given values with something that might flow better in the description.  This does not change actual attribute values. It only changes what appears in the field you are editing.  

The page above is broken down into a few main sections:

1. This tells PIM that you would like to replace data.
2. This will skip the Data Replacement step and move on to the Smart Edit Preview.
3. Allows you to select the attribute that you would like to replace the data for.
4. Allows you to select the Value of the attribute that you would like to replace.
5. Enter the new value here. This is what will be displayed in the field you are editing in place of the actual attribute value.  
6. Once you have the replacement configured, save it to the field by clicking "Add".
7. This is a list of all the replacements you currently have for the current field.
   
   

Once you have all the replacements set up, click "Next".

From this page, you will be able to see a preview of the template from the previous page being used for each of the items that you have selected.

1. The first section is where the preview is.  This section will change based on what item you have selected.
2. The second section is a list of all the items selected for the edit.  You can navigate the list to see each items preview.

Once you're done editing, click on "Save and Finish".
