Item Image Display Configurator

The Item Image Display Configurator is a tool to allow you to set the image sources you use for your items as well as set the priority the system uses to determine which image source to use.  To access the Item Display Configurator, you must be either a SuperAdmin or Admin with Settings access.

This tool is perfect in cases where you don't have images for all of your items, or you are updating images in a new source and you want to make sure the new images always take priority over the old images.

For instance, you can make it so that the category image displays on the item if an item doesn't have a specific item image.  Or you can tell the system that you always want it to show the PIM image if the item has one instead of older images that are available from other sources.

Configuration

To access the Item Display Configurator, log in to the Admin section of your website and navigate using the example below.

Site Manager > Settings > Products > Images

Select the "Configure" button and the menu will appear.

Configure the "Image Order" column to contain the sources that might potentially contain an image link for an item and arrange them in the order you want the system to check for an image.

  1. Drag or click the + sign next to the items in the Image Options column that you want to be available for the system to check.  Drag the options into the order you want to the system to check them in.
  2. Enter a part number and click "Go" to see what image will display based on the criteria you have configured.

The system will only show the image from one of the sources. This tool simply lets you decide where the system will look, and what order to look in. The system will stop when it finds a source that contains an image, and display that image. It will not go any further to look for additional images to display.

Image Sources

There are several possible image sources for you to choose from:

  1. ERP Link Item Image - This refers to images that are linked using a non-WebAlliance image link field in your ERP. For instance, in P21, the Links tab in Item Maintenance can be used to associate an image with an item.
  2. Auto Associate Item Image - This refers to images that are linked to an item by sharing the same name as the part number. For example, an image named 104AZ.png would be associated with part number 104AZ automatically.
  3. Category Image - This will use the category image of the category the item is in as the item image.
  4. User Defined Fields 1-5 - These are WebAlliance user defined fields that either originate in the PIM or your ERP (P21 specific). (NOTE - If your website uses the PIM-Enterprise, these fields are supplied there. It's not necessary to create them in the ERP system.)
  5. PIM Item Image - This refers to the PIM dedicated image field.
  6. Default Image - This would be an image provided to WebAlliance, a company logo for instance, that can be used in place of an item image. Contact Aldrich Web Solutions to configure a default image.
