Virus Scan Software on the Gateway Server

Running virus scan software on your gateway server is encouraged. Here are some guidelines to follow in doing so.

Your gateway server deals in some way with nearly every E-Commerce and My Account function on your website, so it's important to keep it running as efficiently as possible. Virus Scan software is resource-intensive, so we recommend running full drive scans at night after website traffic has slowed. Also, if you run real-time scans throughout the day, you should exclude the directories listed below. Include them in your nightly scans, but real-time scanning can cause a tremendous slow-down of your website's functions.

Exclude these locations from your real-time scans

  • C:\WebAlliance
  • C:\WebAllianceV10
  • C:\P21_Temp
  • C:\Raw_Images
  • C:\Web_Images
  • C:\PM_Data (for systems using Attribute Manager)
  • C:\WebAlliancePIM (for systems using WebAlliance PIM Lite or PIM-Enterprise)
  • C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server
  • C:\ORDERPICKUP

Depending on your configuration, not all of these folders may exist on your gateway machine.
