ERP Fields Available on the Web
On your SKU and SKU Detail listings, WebAlliance can display information about your items that are pulled from your ERP system. Here's an overview of the fields that can be displayed on your item listings.
NOTE - If your website uses the PIM-Enterprise, Custom Fields are supplied there. It's not necessary to create them in the ERP system.

Item Description Fields
Part Description (ERP Short Item Description)
Extended Description (ERP Long Item Description)
Web Description (PIM/Custom Field)
Web Short Description (PIM/Custom Field)
Quick note about displaying Web Description - This is the recommended way of setting up your SKU Detail listing. There are 2 ways to make it work, though:
- Just use the Web Desc field. If there's a value, it will be displayed. If there's no value, nothing will be displayed.
- Show Web Desc if there's a value. If not, display the value from Web Short Desc. If that's empty, show Part Description *plus* Extended Description. This method ensures there will always be something in the description of your item's SKU Detail page.
Web Headline (PIM/Custom Field is automatically shown as the H1 on the SKU Detail page)
Web Meta Description (PIM/Custom Field becomes the meta description for the SKU Detail page)
Web Meta Keyword (PIM/Custom Field) (NOTE - this does not set the meta keywords for the Item Detail page but it is searchable in the internal WebAlliance search engine)
Web Title (PIM/Custom Field is automatically shown in the Title bar of the SKU Detail page)
Notes on including HTML in these fields
Some of these listed fields are HTML Compatible. Generally, less is more here. Feel free to use HTML to enhance the text to include links, to make the text bold, to include bullet points, or for basic styling.
Also, if you press <Enter> while placing information in these fields, (Web Desc for example), the <Enter> is interpreted as an extra line break on the website. If you develop the content in a place that generates HTML, it's a good idea to run that content through a whitespace stripping utility, which can be found through a web search.
Your website already applies styling to all elements. Any HTML you include in these fields will override the default styles. This could complicate troubleshooting and maintenance.
