What does the Variation Group look like on my website?
Variation Group display is an available Optional Module that requires custom configuration on your website. To enable this module, contact Aldrich Web Solutions.
After the standard data update, the changes you made in Attribute Manager will be available for display on your website. Items that are in Variation Groups will display differently than other items on your SKU and SKU Details.
The below covers the default view of Variation Groups, see the Alternate Item Variations Display article if you would like a more simple view.
Each item included in the Variation Group will feature a filterable listing of the other items inside that Group. Here, we'll look at I3M-SF201AF which is included in the SecureFit Variation Group we created in Attribute Manager.
SKU Detail
The Variation Group members appear at the bottom of the SKU Detail page. Note that the Default Sort selected in Attribute Manager, called Frame Color, is the way that the list is sorted (alphanumerically). Click the heading of any of the other attribute columns to sort by those values instead. Click the "down" arrow to see values for the selected attribute (for example, click the "down" arrow next to Frame Color to see a list of "Amber", "Black", "Clear", and "Gray").
SKU
Optionally, you can also have Variation Groups appear on the SKU. In this example, there are 5 items in the "3M SecureFit Glasses" Variation Group. Instead of displaying 5 individual SKUs in a search result or category listing, the group will appear as one SKU with the group description and a "View All . . ." button. If you click the button, the items contained in the Variation Group will appear below the SKU. The list of variation items has the same layout and functionality as the list on the SKU detail. The image that appears here will be the first item in the variation group.
NOTE: The "sort" in Variation Groups uses a "group by" concept. It will always sort alphanumerically. Also, the user can click the drop-down arrow to filter the values of the Attribute.
Pricing is based on Item ID, Customer ID, and Location ID. If there are price breaks associated with the item, they will be displayed also.
Entering a quantity and clicking Add To Cart adds the item to the user's cart. If you need to sell in multiples, consult the "Purchase Multiples" article for instructions on configuring that option.
