A user's account is locked

 

A user will be locked out of their account for 15 minutes if they attempt to log in with an incorrect username or password ten or more times.

Users

A user will see a "User locked out" message if they attempt to log in to their account when it's locked.  They can clear the lockout by using the "Forgot Your Password?" link.  Once they log in with their new password, the lockout will be cleared.

Admins

SuperAdmins and Admins with the Users role can also clear a locked account.  Users with a lockout on their account will have an "Account Locked" badge and an "Unlock" button on their User Detail page.  An Admin can unlock a user account in several ways:

  • Simply click the "Unlock" button.
  • If the user has forgotten their password, using the "Change Password" feature will allow you to provide them with a new password and unlock their account at the same time.
  • Making any change to the user's account and saving it will also unlock the account.

SuperUser

SuperUsers can unlock the account of users they manage.  There will be an "Account Locked" badge and an "Unlock" button on the Manage Users - User Detail screen.  They can unlock the user's account in a couple of ways:

  • Click the "Unlock" button.
  • Make a change to the user's account and save it.
