My file is too big to upload to WebAlliance

The WebAlliance system limits the file size of images and documents you can upload for your content pages.

Uploading Files

If you try to upload an image or document for your content pages that is over the system's file size limit you will see a "File is too big . . ." error message.  The WebAlliance system has a file size upload limit of 10 MB.  The 10 MB limit is in place in both File Manager and the Asset Manager that's used when you add images or documents to a content page.

The Home Page Editor has a file size limit on images as well.   Those limitations are displayed in the editor where you upload the images.

Images

Even though you can upload images up to 10 MB in size through the File Manager and Asset Manager, it's best if the images are much smaller than that.  Images can be optimized to load quickly but still look great on the page.  We suggest running the images for your content pages and home page through an online optimization tool like one of the following:

PDF Files

PDF files can also be optimized if they are over the 10 MB file size limit.  Even if it's already under 10 MB in size, it doesn't hurt to optimize it to provide users with a faster download.  You can greatly reduce the size of a PDF file by using a tool like the one you can find at https://smallpdf.com/.
