User Miscellaneous Field Configuration

User miscellaneous fields are designed to allow you to collect additional information from a user when they register for an account.  The answers users give to these questions will appear on the Miscellaneous tab of the User Details screen for that user.

You must be a SuperAdmin or an Admin with the Users Area role to access the user miscellaneous field configuration.

Viewing User Miscellaneous Fields

The User Miscellaneous Fields can be accessed from the Users menu in the admin, under 'User Misc Field Config'.

You can configure up to five miscellaneous fields that will appear on the account creation form for users to fill out.  Click Edit to configure one of the five fields.

Configuring the User Miscellaneous Field

  1. 'Control Type' lets you determine how the user can answer the question.  The options to choose from are:
    •  CheckBox - A checkbox for users to click off.  An example of this would be having a user click a checkbox if they want to receive marketing emails.
    • TextBox - A normal form field for a user to enter whatever text they want in.
    • DropDown - Provide several answers for a user to choose from in a drop-down list.
    • RadioList - Provide several answers for a user to choose from in a radio list.
    • ListBox - Provide several answers for a user to choose from in a list box.
  2. 'Enabled' determines whether the miscellaneous field will display during account creation.
  3. 'Required' will determine if the user will be able to complete the account creation without answering the question.
  4. 'Label' is essentially the question you want to ask the user.
  5. 'DropDown', 'RadioList' and 'ListBox' will have an Allowed Values box, where you can enter the answers you want users to have to choose from, separated by commas.
  6. Once you have configured the field just the way you want to, click Update to save the changes, or Cancel if you don't want to save the changes.

If you change the Control Type of a field that has already gathered some data from users to CheckBox, some of that data could be lost.
